Born and raised in the United States, Pamela has lived in Oslo, Norway for all of her adult life. Her earliest memories of being aware of Spirit are from around the age of 9 – making her the ‘slightly odd’ person in the family and being told (as so many children are) that her experiences were fanciful and not real.
These early experiences led to her viewing them as a simple curiosity – with no thought to becoming serious in her development. Interestingly, her great uncle, Earl Wesley Fornell, wrote a book about Spiritualism in 1964 titled ‘The Unhappy Medium’. This book was about the Fox family and Margaret Fox in particular and it was a book that she grew up seeing in the family home – only reading casual bits of it on occasion. But, as in the case with so many of us, Spirit had a plan for her and she received many signs that she later understood as the Spirit World trying to get her attention and pointing her in the direction of developing her mediumship.
Pamela first came to the Arthur Findlay College as a student in 2008 and she knew immediately that she had come home. But if anyone had told her then that she might be teaching at the College someday she would have laughed at the idea. Pamela feels that this is how the Spirit World works. They give you enough information and experience to take your next step but never tell you the whole story. That is something that you must understand for yourself. She considers herself to be an eternal student and that is how it should be.
Her passion for teaching comes from the conviction that ‘knowledge is power’. The knowledge you gain from education gives you the power to make the best decisions for yourself and for your development.
From doing her first written course with the SNU in 2010 (which she thought was the only one she would ever do) to the present day, Pamela has gone on to do many other courses. She now tutors several of the SNU written courses and holds a Diploma in teaching and in demonstrating. She also has a certificate in speaking and is an Officiant of the SNU. She also teaches at various venues at home in Norway. Her teaching style is based on two main principles:
‘There is no failure – you either succeed or you learn.’
‘A good teacher explains – a great teacher inspires.’
